Versatile Labelling Machine

A versatile labelling machine from Pago

A leading manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging, offering products made by all three conversion processes, blowmoulding, injection and thermoforming required a labelling applicator to apply front and back labels to a range of large containers for household chemical and industrial markets.
A customised, wide PAGOsystem 80 was the solution from Pago that will handle opaque and clear self adhesive labels up to 225mm, with a maximum 230 mm wide web.The applicator provides an integrated system with an extruded aluminium machine base to support conveyor and PAGOmat labelling heads. Castors with brakes have been fitted for manoeverability in the production area.
There is a 2 metre conveyor assembly with single belt conveyor including belt guides, driven via a separate drive motor, with crowned rollers for easy belt tracking.
The height adjustable, top hold assembly incoporates pressure pads to ensure a constant clamping force along the length of the top hold which allows for slight variations in container height. The stepper motor is synchronised with the conveyor drive and the top hold belt is a timing belt type running in a guided wear strip, allowing for greater pressure but no stretching.
It is only 35mm wide which eliminates the need for change part beaks.  This machine has 2 Pagomat 6/2 A 230 labelling heads, the stepper motor ensures the maximum torque available from this type of motor so offering consistent accuracy at high speeds. Up to 50 products set ups can be stored in the units memory with repeatable settings and ease of set up for the operator. The labelling head is mounted on a 20 mm thick aluminium base plate and this provides the basis for a robust construction. Web guide rollers are mounted using sealed bearings so that resisance to web movement is reduced, allowing the power of the motor to be used accurately to start and stop the web. The head accepts 300mm external diameter reels of labels.
This PAGOsystem 80 incorporates 2 mechanical label gap sensors which start the PAGOmat labelling cycle, detects a gap when running clear labels and is in a fixed position so no adjustment is necessary. There are 2 off Unit supports engineered to provide a solid and rigid mounting for the head whilst offering full adjustment to position the Pagomat to match your containers. The universal tilt movements is adjustable by thumb wheels with swivel adjust to change the angle of label approach to container, an additional support leg is placed below reel unwind arm. The Sick product sensor consisting of a break beam is mounted to the conveyor detecting the passage of products.Beak brush kits and conveyor mounted wipe down rollers wipe the labels onto the container.
