PZ Cussons uses PAGO Rotary Machine

P Z Cussons label Original Source and Charles Worthington products with a PAGO System 630M

P Z Cussons, the International consumer products group have purchased an automatic rotary labeller, the Pago System 630M to apply front, back and wraparound pressure sensitive labels non-stop to shaped plastic bottles. The machine has been installed at their Manchester site.

Pago System 630M

This machine consists of a sturdy steel base, with stainless sheet steel cladding, for the installation of auxiliary modules, and complete with rotary carrousel for the transfer of the containers that are to be labelled. The circular shape of the base offers unequalled accessibility to the machine, while providing for total safety. The circular safety guards on the machine structure open vertically, allow free access to the labelling stations, while perfectly enclosing the rotating parts. Hence, there are no obstructions even with open safety doors, for a top ease of use.

The 960mm bottle carrousel has 12 plates and 4 labelling heads installed onto the machine base frame with a double clamp and adjustment is on 4 axes. Its maximum speed is from 180 to 220 bottles per minute. The product, each needing a set of change parts, is a variety oPAGO System 630Mf 250, 500 and 750ml containers. The paper or film labels vary in length from 20 - 210mm, the backing paper width is 170 mm.

Two parallel assemblies, both arranged for handling the same label, provide a "Non-Stop" operation, achieving a considerable reduction of machine downtime caused when replacing the label reel. The PAGO "Non-Stop" Control System allows the communication between the two assemblies, one of which is running while the other one is on stand-by.

The management electronics are installed inside the labelling assemblies and are controlled via a microprocessor. The high processing speed provides high-speed switching, with no machine slow-down.

For top labelling versatility with electronic programmable plates' rotation each plate is driven by a single motor and controlled by dedicated cards. Programmable plates' revolving speed provide for a precise positioning of the containers in the labelling area

Options that were added to this machine were an air conditioning system in the electrical cabinet and a flex-link conveyor belt.
