Pago Collaboration

Offset Machines BV and Pago Ltd collaborate on exciting new pot labelling project

Offset Machines BV and Pago Ltd have completed a pot labelling solution and are promoting it for the UK market, machines have been installed for 2 packaging companies
The machine consists of a feeder elevator buffer, a feeder unit with screws, an 8 station heavy duty index box, a PAGOmat 6 series labelling head and a restacker with buffer. The PAGOmat applies a single wraparound label or multiple labels to round conical and cylindrical pots at speeds in excess of 120 PPM, and is integrated into a pot handling machine produced by Offset.
The pot handling is based on Offset’s pot printing equipment, with which it has many years of experience. The labelling speed is dependent on the relationship between the label dispense speed, the label length, and the time required to get each pot into position.
Offset’s cup handling system is suited for pots with diameters between 50 and 180 mm and a maximum height of 200 mm. A feeder unit separates the pots with screws, and places each pot on a mandrel. This system can be equipped with double pot and missing pot detection so preventing application of a label.
The mandrel stops at the labelling position, driven with consistent peripheral speed. The speed of the mandrel drive can be varied so that optimum speed setting can be achieved.
After the application of one or more labels, the pots are transported from the mandrel into the restacker. After optional exact counting, the pot stacks arrive at the buffer table where they can be collected by the operator.
The labelling head has a heavy duty support within the pot handling machine, enabling the PAGOmat to be positioned to match the product. It is vertically adjusted by means of a hand wheel which allows easy setting of the machine, locked into position so guaranteeing accurate labelling.
PAGO’s unique electronics with microprocessor control and operator friendly display and interface allows storage of up to 99 products, thus reducing change over time.
Offset’s pot handling system can easily and quickly be set up for a different pot dimension. Feeder height, feeding screws, guiding bars and restacker belts are set within minutes. The separate mandrel system is easy to access, thus allowing an quick change of tooling. With the computer operator interface the required operational variables can be set.
Offset and Pago are pleased with the result of their creative solution from this collaboration.
