Strawberry Bank Liqueurs Ltd based near Kendal, Cumbria, has purchased a PAGOsystem 80 to apply self adhesive labels to its delicious range of fruit based liqueurs. The machine has 2 PAGOmat 3 series labelling units, mounted to the front and rear of the machine. The owners were already producing a popular and much sought after damson beer and juice, using the fruit from the famous Lyth Valley. A drop in trade from the public house business, as a result of the foot and mouth epidemic, encouraged them to look at different sources of income. A decision to produce Damson Gin by a traditional recipe using modern methods i.e. juicing the fruit, lead to orders and interest from customers and the retail trade, a business was started. The extension of the range into Blackberry Whisky, Strawberry Vodka and Sloe Gin and Blackberry Gin, with their Ginger and Chilli Dry Sherries , a must for cooks, produced an increased demand at outlets across the country. The glass bottle, in three sizes, is a distinctive, square elongated shape sourced in Italy. The labelling applicator has gap sensors, unit supports, a top hold assembly with pitching and chain orientation mechanisms. The substantial machine has a 2575 conveyor assembly and accurately applies the labels to the differing sizes of container. The direction of the container flow is from left to right for installation at the company base at Plumgarth Farm. Strawberry Bank Liqueurs purchased their labeller, enabling this small firm to increase their output to match demand, with a grant from Distinctly Cumbria and Leader The labels, also from Pago, are applied front and back on the PAGOsystem 80, up to a rate of 80 bottles per minute.
