Arista tubes, based in Stevenage, specialises in the manufacture of a comprehensive range of tubes, offering a full tube design and packaging service. After a management buyout from Courtaulds in 1998, the company was sold in 2004 to Essel Propack the multinational company with headquarters in Mumbai, India. Essel Propack is the largest speciality packaging company in the world manufacturing laminated and seamless tubes catering to the oral care, cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical, food and industrial sectors. Their clients include top multinational companies as well as local & regional companies in the countries in which it operates. Arista provides solutions to many of the leading global toiletry and cosmetic companies, with additional customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries. They offer a tube labelling facility and have recently purchased an additional labelling machine, a PAGOsystem 270 DT with 2 PAGOmat 6/2 labelling units for wraparound labelling of plastic tubes. Arista bought their first Pago machine in1996 and Pago arranged the loan of a PAGOsystem 270i to provide Arista with the capacity until their new system was delivered. The 270DT has a rotary labelling unit with a separately driven drive and application roller and an electro pneumatic lifting unit. Initially using self adhesive tube labels printed by Pago the machine has now been shipped for use in the USA . Jeremy Paul, the Managing Director, believes that the well engineered Pago machine is safe and reliable, with advantages over other systems in its accurate orientation to the cap. Labels are an innovative way of displaying all your information on a tube. The increase in the amount of product information and advice, and multilanguage needs for international markets make demands that can be easily fulfilled by labels. Labels are a customer choice and preference for use on tubes, the challenge for the printer determined by the product and its usage which affects the choice of material and adhesive. The PAGOsystem 270 DT guarentees precise labelling and perfect positioning. Tube labels provide high quality decoration, emphasising differentiation between brands, versatility, and offer flexible supply logistics. The machine labels capped plastic tubes prior to filling and heat sealing, in diameters between 20 and 50mm with a length of 50-200mm, automatically loaded from an infeed system. The machine achieves up to 140 pieces per minute applying a label with a maximum width of 167mm. The benefits of plastic tubes include durability and decorative potential, the addition of a label can fulfil a complexity of decoration that is greater than the direct offset and silkscreen printing. Labelled tubes are an advantage when small production runs are needed for test marketing or foreign language variants. Arista is committed to an investment in new technology to meet the high standards needed by customers and continues to develop innovative solutions to accomodate the demands of products. In buying a PAGOsystem they have invested in a machine for the future that can fulfil all the demanding requirements of continuous operation over long periods of time, and therefore facilitate Arista in offering an accurate and reliable service to their customers.
