Pago provide clever engineering solution for multipackaging
 |
A UK healthcare company at the forefront of nutritional science and production technology is recognised the world over, investing heavily in scientific research, health education and the most modern manufacturing processes. Now a leading healthcare brand not just in the UK and Ireland they have successfully diversified. They contacted Pago as they needed to apply a single pre printed label to a range of shrink wrapped traded pack units. The penultimate stage on the packaging lines involves labelling 6 screw capped plastic containers shrink wrapped in a PVC tray. In order to accurately and effectively apply the label to the pack it is required to be orientated through 90 degrees. This enables a standard horizontal self adhesive label applicator to apply the label, the label to be fixed to the widest face of the pack, the leading face, as it moves down the conveyor. They therefore required a sequence of operation comprising a pack turning device and conveyor with the integration of a PAGO self adhesive label applicator that would be capable of separating and turning, reorientating for labelling at a speed of 30 traded unit packs per minute. Pago engineers designed a turning device to control the movement of packs that gives consistency of application by the PAGOmat 3 labelling head. The head is simple to use, of high quality with operator convenience; the dispensing unit based on proven Pagomat technology and offers a unique cost/benefit ratio with its integrated control system. This clever piece of engineering design could be applicable to a number of applications in most industries that require traded unit packs to be labelled without a loss of production line speed.
