Investing in a PAGOsystem 540

Toiletry company invests in another PAGOsystem 540

The company purchased a PAGOsystem 540 for their Shower products and were impressed with the performance of this top of the range inline machine. They required an additional fully automatic machine for non stop labelling to apply front and back labels to shaped containers with and without hooks and ordered a second PAGOsystem 540. An additional free standing labelling head was purchased later for promotional labelling to the side of the containers

The 540 provides you with high speed labelling for product decoration using self adhesive labels, it is unique in terms of performance and precision and easily integrated into high speed filling and packaging lines.Such high speeds demand an exceptionally robust design and more effective, vibration free drives. The local drive system is servo-regulated and synchronised, this precise simultaneous operation of the units and function modules facilitates speeds up to a maximum of 350 bottles per minute.

The PAGOsystem 540 combines three innovative components, the most up to date communications technology, the high performance labelling technology of 4 6/2 75 to 120mm heads, and an advanced robust system technology. The powerful vision system has the capacity to check up to 600 products per minute with outstanding features, the label positioning controls read the bottle contours and have the capacity to recognise both the vertical and horizontal deviations as well as angular misalignment. At the same time these controls check for a certain feature on the labels as confirmation that the correct label has been applied with barcode verification check for legibility and correctness. These controls can read all conventional barcodes and 2D codes.
The base of the machine consists of a strong fully enclosed framework with a top plate  which supports functional and auxillary modules. The label heads are mounted on a stable support mechanism and the angle can be adjusted horizontally and vertically via hand wheels
The product is transferred from the upstream machine conveyor onto the labelling system conveyor belt using an extended infeed scroll where a fallen bottle sensor is located, if the product is not in the correct positon the scroll is stopped and the product will not enter. The infeed scroll controls and separates the containers and is synchronised to the pitch of the modules required for the labelling process with the centraliser aligning and centering the product before they are held in position by the top hold.

An optical sensor detects the leading edge of the product and triggers the label application with reel changes and used waste web removal effected without stopping the production line. In case of the end of the label roll or a problem on one labelling head the labelling process is immediately transferred to the second labelling station. The Pagomat controller recognises the number of products between the 2 labelling stations and makes sure all products are properly labelled. The stand by labelling station will automatically be moved in service position to provide easy and safe access for the operator.

This top of the range labeller from Pago has provided the company with reliable and accurate labelling for their bodycare range.
