EDGE LABELLER

India’s largest fast moving consumer goods company with over 20 distinct categories in Home and Personal care products and Food and Beverages have purchased a labelling machine from Pago. This company are also one of the country’s largest exporters and continue to invest in the latest technology to sustain their growth and committment to their customers.They needed a labelling machine to handle sleeved cartons, which would also apply a tamper evident label to the top and front face.They approached Pago to discuss their needs and provide a machine for this function.

The Pago carton labeller applies a label wide edge leading to the uppermost face overlapping the end. The carton is feed squarely by a flighted belt conveyor under a top guide. The label is then wiped onto the end by a set of rollers. The cartons, correctly orientated, results in the specified speed being the rate at which the flighted pockets on the conveyor pass the labelling head. The conveying speed is fixed, the output rate will depend on the ability of the operator loading the conveyor maximum rate being achieved if every flighted pocket is loaded with a carton.
The machine is constructed from stainless steel and anodised aluminium with a flighted belt conveyor to transport the carton below the labelling unit that applies the label. Accurate labelling is achieved by the ability to lock the Pagomat in position once set, with easy vertical and horizontal settings.
The applicator comprises of square cut threads which are wear resistant, the thread is not prone to damage, and facilitates smooth efficient adjustment which aids accurate setting.

The twin flighted conveyor belt  is 160mm wide, with belt guides, of an open design to eliminate any shear point with flights.The labelling head is the Pagomat 3/100 incorporating a label unwind unit with dancer brake arm, the maximum web width 100mm and web guide rollers are mounted using sealed bearings for an extended life.Optical gap sensors are fixed in positon with no adjustment necessary across label width The top guide with wipe down free running rollers is mounted to the rear of the conveyor, a set of sponge rollers drives down the overhanging end of the label onto the end of the carton.
