A G Barr rent Pago system for Wobbler promotion

A G Barr, the Scottish soft drinks company rents Pago machine to apply wobblers onto large bottles of carbonated drinks         

A G Barr rented a 2 headed Pagomat 6/2A 170 labelling machine, with mounting assembly and floor stand to apply wobblers produced by Pago, promoting a ‘try it for free' offer for their new real fruit juice Tizer drink. The machine installed alongside their conveyor applied the promotion to bottles at approximately 400ppm, a maximum conveying speed of 62 metres per minute.

The PAGOmat 6/2 A 170 units are mounted on 20mm thick aluminium base plate providing the basis of a robust construction, the substantial support frame is constructed from stainless steel, fitted with twin vertical ground pillars, slide block and adjustment hand wheel, and mounted on adjustable machine feet.

It is stepper motor driven, utilising PAGO's unique electronics to ensure the maximum torque so offering consistent accuracy at high speeds, the microprocessor control eliminates the need for mechanical adjustment. Up to 50 product set-ups can be stored in the unit's memory to reduce change over time.

The encoder is attached to the conveyor drive shaft by means of a purpose designed mounting. Options to pre-warn for low labels and an end of label reel sensor together with a three-colour beacon indicating machine status are added. A voltless contact is provided for warning and error, which can be used by the operator to stop bottles entering the labeller.
Web guide rollers are mounted using sealed bearings providing reduced resistance to web movement facilitating the motor power to be used to accurately start and stop the web, rollers can be cantilevered for ease of threading.

A Pago sensor permits the PAGOmedia wobbler labels to be applied and the brush kit ensures the label is wiped down.
Advantages include easy setting of this machine, even with difficult containers, smooth, efficient adjustment aids ensure accurate setting of machine with swivel adjustment to change the angle of label approach to the container.
